Day 11 of The Fit Fridge’s Twelve Days of Healthy Holidays: Feeling frosty? Warm up with flavored popcorn that’s “snow delicious.” Skip the butter, and instead add a drizzle of oil and spice for flavor. The cute and easy-to-make snowman holders are a perfect finishing touch to this quick gift.
Snow Delicious Popcorn Mix (Makes about 16 servings)
8 cups popcorn made without salt or fat
2 teaspoons canola oil
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
16 large, clear plastic fold and close sandwich bags
16 twist ties
Put popcorn in a large bowl. Drizzle with 1/4 teaspoon canola oil, and stir well. Reapeat process once more. Mix sugar, cinnamon and salt in a small bowl. Drizzle popcorn with remaining oil, and stir well. Sprinkle with sugar mixture, and stir again. Divide popcorn between bags, and close with twist ties.
Snowman Treat Holder (Makes 1)
White and black cardstock paper
Scrap of patterned cardstock
3 orange buttons of different sizes
Wire garland (about 8-9”)
1” circle punch
Heart -shaped hole punch
Print template and cut out all pieces. Trace snowman head and hat onto white cardstock. Trace the hat again onto black cardstock. Cut out pieces, cutting a slit as directed on the template into the top of both the white and black hats. Glue the black hat over the white one, aligning the slits.
Draw a face on the snowman, and glue on buttons for a nose.
Punch a small circle out of patterned cardstock, and punch a heart in the top to create a gift tag. Write a message or the recipient’s name, and slide the tag onto the wire garland.
Slide the top of the popcorn bag into the slit in the hat so that the snowman’s face covers most of the popcorn and the top of the pleated bag sticks through his hat. Bend the wire garland around the center of the hat for a hatband, and fold the ends around the back, twisting them together to secure. Position the tag on the side of the hat, and surprise a friend with this treat.
